The Oregon Cannabis Tax Act 2012 is a citizen’s initiative campaign to regulate cannabis and restore industrial hemp. The goal is to protect Oregon’s children and increase public safety by creating a series of regulations around the growth and sale of cannabis and industrial hemp. The scientists at FSANZ have examined the evidence and expressed their opinion that hemp seed is a safe and nutritious food. However, a number of political issues have been raised by certain reactionary elements and their objections need to be addressed, prior to FSANZ producing a position paper which is then taken to the ministerial council.
