The Nimbin HEMP Embassy and the HEMP Party with new State Branches are revitalised with new enthusiasm, says President Michael Balderstone.

“The US Election results with Washington State and Colorado re-legalising cannabis after 75 years of prohibition is the best news for cannabis users in decades. There are also many States over there with legal medical cannabis and now this even bigger step is causing ripples around the globe. On top of this great news we also have the NSW Inquiry into medical cannabis”

Recreational cannabis in Colorado will be legal to possess for people age twenty-one or older provided the amount is under 1 ounce. It will be legal to consume pot within a private residence, but not in public. Consumption will be permitted in a manner similar to alcohol, with equivalent offences prescribed for driving. It will be legal to sell cannabis provided the store has obtained a permit to do so, similar to alcohol laws in many states. Private non-commercial cultivation is legal up to six plants per person. Washington State will introduce similar measures.
