HEMP SA Petition

Now you all may have seen some e-petitions getting ’round, and may be tempted to ‘sign’ them.

Currently, the South Australian Government will not accept this style of petition, a ‘wet ink’ petition is the only style they will currently accept, and it seems that most/all of them have not approached or have a senator ‘onside’ to table it for them in parliament either.

This petition is a ‘wet ink’ style petition

And we have a couple of options in the House Of Assembly to have it tabled.

This particular petition is for South Australians only at this stage, we are working on an Australia wide petition also, to be made available in about a month or so.

Many thanks must go to Steve Clark, of the SACC, who spent many, many hours of his time to research and set this up, and whose work on the upcoming Australia wide petition has been most productive to this stage (we are working on getting a senator ‘onside’, this will happen, but confirmation is required still.) Thanks Steve.

Cannabis wont legalise itself, it will take a LOT of “people power”, and being mindful of all that is going on around the world, the time is NOW to exhibit and express that power.

THE LAW IS THE CRIME, NOW IS THE TIME.

Argument: We draw the attention of your Honourable House the great inconvenience suffered by the residents of South Australia at our outdated and unfair hemp and cannabis laws.

There are many voters who use cannabis responsibly for medicinal use. There are thousands of South Australians being criminalised for treating problems such as cancer, chronic pain, seizures and depression amongst many others. http://bit.ly/1goT6hX

Many farmers are suffering under difficult conditions and hemp with its many applications could be an amazing cash crop for South Australia, not only for farmers but if we are to establish the first industry and associated processing facilities for good from paper, building and fuel products through to cosmetics and food. http://bit.ly/1p5lt9M

Given the recent issues of alcohol related violence in the CBD in particular the time is right to consider regulated recreational cannabis sales and use is South Australia. http://bit.ly/1nt8zfD

Not only will the organised crime element be reduced it will also bring about a financial windfall for our state. By capitalising on the tourism dollars of being the first state in Australia to follow the lead set by many other areas around the world at the present moment moving beyond prohibition and allowing people the choice of a legal yet vastly less dangerous drug than alcohol.

Alcohol related deaths remain one of the countries biggest killers and this in part is due to cannabis prohibition. http://bit.ly/1e386zs
